Hilary Knight, Fleet’s Megan Keller named captains for 2025-26 season
The Seattle Torrent and Boston Fleet have named their captains for the 2025-26 PWHL season, with Megan Keller taking the vacant captaincy in Boston, as former Fleet captain Hilary Knight takes the role in Seattle.
Knight, picked up as a free agent from the Fleet, becomes the first captain in Torrent history and adds the Seattle franchise to the long list of teams she has captained in the past. Currently, she is also the captain of the U.S. national women’s team.
Last season, she was a finalist for the 2024-25 PWHL Forward of the Year and Billie Jean King MVP award.
“It’s a huge honor to lead what is already a phenomenal group,” said Knight. “And to do it in an inaugural season in a city and region that has such a deep, rich history of women’s sports legacies is incredible.”
With 21 goals and 19 assists in 54 regular season games, Knight will hope to bring that same scoring touch to the Torrent, but first she will likely tackle a ceremonial puck drop at the Torrent’s first-ever game against fellow expansion team, the Vancouver Goldeneyes on Nov. 21.
In Boston, Keller steps into the void left by Knight. The 29-year-old brings ample professional, collegiate and international experience, and was an alternate in the Fleet’s first two seasons under Knight’s captaincy.

“This is a huge honor,” said Keller. “It’s so special to be a part of this team and especially this leadership group. It’s an important task at hand and I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity ahead.”
Unlike Seattle, Boston also named alternate captains for the season, tipping Swiss forward Alina Müller as well as Canadian Jamie Lee Rattray as assistant captains. 2025-26 will be Lee Rattray’s third season wearing a n “A.”
Keller and the Fleet dropped the puck on their season not long after Knight and the Torrent, hitting the ice on Nov. 23 against the Montreal Victoire.
