How concerned should the Vegas Golden Knights be about Adin Hill’s recent play?

It’s been an up-and-down season for Vegas Golden Knights’ goaltender Adin Hill. After backstopping the team to their first Stanley Cup championship last season, Hill started the 2023-24 campaign strong, with eight wins in his first 10 games and a .928 SV%.

But injuries derailed the second half of his season, and since Feb. 12, Hill has a 5-9-0 record with an .876 SV%. With one more expected regular-season start against the Anaheim Ducks, the coaching staff and Hill himself hope he can get his game back on track before the start of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

On Wednesday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and former NHLer Colby Cohen are joined by former NHL goaltender Carter Hutton to discuss Hill’s struggles and what needs to happen for both him and the Golden Knights to find success this spring.

Frank Seravalli: Talking about Vegas, they’ve been all over the map this year, and Adin Hill missed a huge part of the season. How concerned are you about his game heading into the playoffs?

Carter Hutton: I’m a little bit concerned, I thought he was going to come back smoother fromk that injury, but he hasn’t looked great since coming back. Early in the season, he was rock solid and looked like he might run away with the Veznia Trophy. Finishing with a .910 SV% is decent, but his game has dropped off a lot.

I’m looking for this Vegas team to be healthy with everyone in the lineup, and I think tomorrow night, getting a start at home against the Ducks will be important for him heading into the playoffs. Overall, I feel like this squad will do a good job of protecting him.
