Hurricanes acquire Max Domi from Blue Jackets

The Carolina Hurricanes and Columbus Blue Jackets struck a deal right at the last second.
According to Pierre LeBrun, Max Domi is heading to Carolina.
This is the third time the 27-year-old has been traded in his NHL career. He was sent from the Arizona Coyotes to the Montreal Canadiens for Alex Galchenyuk in 2018 and then, two years later, he was flipped to the Blue Jackets for Josh Anderson.
The best season of Domi’s career came in his first in Montreal when he broke out for 28 goals and 72 points. The following season, he fell off in terms of production, scoring just 44 points in 71 games.
Domi hasn’t been able to find his groove in Columbus either. Through two seasons with the Blue Jackets, he has 18 goals and 56 points in 107 games.
The two-year, $10.6-million contract that Domi inked with Columbus back in October of 2020 will come to an end after this season and he’ll be eligible to hit the open market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career.
Domi plays both center and the wing and might be able to thrive playing on a deeper Hurricanes team. Carolina currently boasts the top record in the Metropolitan Division at 41-15-6.
