Is the Pacific Division a bit stronger than originally believed?

Even though we are just over a week in the 2024-25 NHL season, there are already occurrences catching people’s attention.
One of those occurrences is happening out west, as teams throughout the Pacific Division are putting together some good performances in the early going.
Heading into Friday’s slate of action, five of the eight teams have at least two wins, including the Calgary Flames, who have won each of their first four games. Only the Flames and the Tampa Bay Lightning have an undefeated record thus far.
The Vegas Golden Knights and Seattle Kraken each have three wins, while the Los Angeles Kings have started 2-1-2, with all their games coming on the road. Even the Edmonton Oilers, who scared some people by losing their first three games, have bounced back to win their last two affairs.
On Friday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk discuss the hot start by one of the divisions in the Western Conference, and whether it or some of the “top teams'” play is sustainable beyond October.
Tyler Yaremchuk: Is [the Pacific] going to be higher than we think, or is this just early-season, teams racking up some weird wins?
Frank Seravalli: [The San Jose Sharks] are already floating to the bottom. [The Anaheim Ducks]–they’re going to compete for a while and I like some of the juice they have, like Leo Carlsson scoring the OT winner earlier this week was awesome…The Kraken are kind of the wild card here. If they’re a team that exceeds expectations, things will be tighter. I think the jury’s still out on the Flames. I think we need to get to Halloween before making a judgment about whether or not they’re the real deal.
