The New York Islanders are bringing back a pair of veterans.

According to Kevin Weekes, the team has come to terms on contract extensions for Cal Clutterbuck and Zach Parise. Clutterbuck’s deal will be worth $1.75 million annually over two years while Parise has inked a one-year deal.

The Islanders acquired Clutterbuck from the Minnesota Wild back in 2013 in exchange for Nino Niederreiter. Over the course of nine seasons with the Islanders, Clutterbuck has been a very effective bottom-six forward, forming a reliable defensive line with Casey Cizikas and Matt Martin.

Through 59 games this season, Clutterbuck has six goals and nine assists. He’s played 933 games in his NHL career and will likely hit the 1,000 mark before the end of this contract.

Clutterbuck is nearing the end of a five-year, $17.5-million deal that was signed back in December of 2016.

After getting bought out by the Wild, Parise signed a one-year deal with a $750,000 base salary and $750,000 in performance bonuses with the Islanders last summer. In his first season with New York, Parise has eight goals and 24 points.

Defenders Andy Greene and Zdeno Chara are two other Islanders veterans who are set to become unrestricted free agents at the end of the season.

The Islanders are currently in the midst of a very disappointing season, as they sit sixth in the Metropolitan Division with a 26-25-9 record.
