Seattle Kraken forward Jared McCann will miss the final three games of the 2025-26 regular season with a lower-body injury, the club announced Monday morning.

McCann, 29, has 20 goals and 40 points in 52 games with the Kraken this season. He collected an assist and logged 14:52 of ice time in Seattle’s 4-1 win over the Calgary Flames on Saturday.

The Kraken have already been officially eliminated from Stanley Cup Playoff contention and currently sit in sixth place in the Pacific Division with a 34-34-11 record and 79 points in 79 games. They’ll play their final home game of the season against the Los Angeles Kings on Monday before visiting the Vegas Golden Knights and Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.

McCann is currently in his fifth season as a member of the Kraken. The 6’1″ left wing is under contract with the club at a $5 million cap hit through the end of the 2026-27 season, at which point he could become an unrestricted free agent.

The Kraken originally acquired McCann from the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft. The Stratford, Ontario product holds most Kraken single-season and career scoring records, with the 2025-26 season being the first in which he has not led the team in points.

A first-round pick (No. 24 overall) of the Vancouver Canucks in the 2014 NHL Draft, McCann has also played for the Florida Panthers and Pittsburgh Penguins during his career. He was briefly a member of the Maple Leafs organization in 2021 but never played for the team before being claimed by Seattle in the expansion process.

Through 720 career NHL games over parts of 11 seasons with the Canucks, Panthers, Penguins, and Kraken, McCann has collected 204 goals and 438 points. He’s added one goal and six points in 20 career playoff contests with Pittsburgh and Seattle.
