Another member of the Colorado Avalanche Stanley Cup-winning team will be sticking around.

According to Peter Baugh of The Athletic, the Avalanche are closing in on a deal with defenseman Josh Manson. Pierre LeBrun has reported that the deal is worth $4.5 million annually over four years.

Manson was a sixth-round pick of the Anaheim Ducks back in 2011 and he made his NHL debut with the team in 2014-15. Manson spent eight seasons in Anaheim before getting dealt to the Avs at the trade deadline in March of 2022.

In 22 regular-season games with the Avs, Manson put up seven points and logged 17:24 per game. He added eight points in 20 playoff games and played 17:11 per game.

The soon-to-be 31-year-old Manson is coming off of a four-year, $16.4 million deal signed with the Ducks back in October of 2017. His new deal with Colorado will feature a slight raise from that $4.1 million annual salary to $4.5 million.

The Avalanche have re-signed Valeri Nichushkin, Darren Helm, and Andrew Cogliano, while Nazem Kadri and Darcy Kuemper are set to hit the open market this afternoon. Nathan MacKinnon will also be eligible for a contract extension as he’s eligible to become an unrestricted free agent next summer.
