Kraken’s Mason Marchment a name to watch on the trade front

While there’s still plenty of hockey to be played, we’re less than three months away from the NHL Trade Deadline, and prognostications on the notable names that might be on trade boards are starting to come to the forefront.
One of those players is Seattle Kraken forward Mason Marchment. With the team struggling as of late, falling further and further out of the Wild Card picture in the Western Conference, Marchment could be a player who would attract suitors heading toward the deadline.
Along with having scored four goals and nine assists for 13 points, Marchment has shown in the past his ability to be a significant presence come playoff time. During his time with the Florida Panthers and Dallas Stars, the Uxbridge, Ont. native proved he can provide some bite, along with secondary scoring, to give his teams a better chance to win.
On Friday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton discuss why Mason Marchment could be a trade target for the foreseeable future.
Tyler Yaremchuk: You’re not going to trade five guys in the next 12 hours. Marchment’s a name to watch. Seattle, at some point in the next few months, is going to have to make a decision here on a bunch of guys.
Carter Hutton: Where are they going in the league? In a Western Conference where superstars kind of carry the table, they don’t really have that guy. So, now you start to build toward the future. Mason Marchment is a player that you look at a lot of teams would love to add. He’s a guy that can play up and down your lineup. He’s a big body, a playoff player, right? He’s a guy I think that can be in those roles.
There’s a lot of value there. If you start to think about the rebuild or where they’re going with this hockey team, Jaden Schwartz is obviously going to be a free agent…There’s a lot of different pieces where Seattle can go. That being said, it’s been a disappointing run right now for the Kraken. So, at some point, you’ve got to start to see a little bit of a sell-off, I would assume, in Seattle.
