Kubina Returns to Where It All Started

Tampa GM Steve Yzerman was busy at work, Friday, bringing in one of the better offensive defensemen available in Pavel Kubina at $3.85-million a year for two years.  Kubina returns to the team where he spent 8 seasons after they drafted him in the 7th round in 1996.  However, Kubina’s most offensive days actually came after leaving Tampa Bay for Toronto and Atlanta.

Kubina will still be a plus/minus risk but Tampa is putting the right tools together, leaving him a productive fantasy option.  The 40-point mark may not be out of reach as he should be a lock to quarterback their powerful first powerplay unit even if Mattias Ohlund and Victor Hedman eat up the majority of even-strength minutes.
