Lightning sign Jonas Johansson to two-year extension

The Tampa Bay Lightning have extended backup netminder Jonas Johansson to a two-year, $2.5 million contract extension. According to the contract details, Johansson will be paid $1,250,000 AAV.

During the 2024-25 campaign, Johansson appeared in a career-high 26 games with the Lightning this season, posting a 12-7-5 record, two shutouts, and an .890 save percentage.
The Buffalo Sabres originally selected Johansson in the third round (No. 61 overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft. After spending his first three post-draft seasons in the Brynäs IF system in Sweden, Johansson arrived in North America in 2017.
Johansson appeared in 13 games with the Sabres over the 2019–20 and 2020–21 seasons, going 1-8-2 with an .888 save percentage. The Sabres moved him to the Colorado Avalanche ahead of the 2021 trade deadline in exchange for a sixth-round pick.
In parts of three seasons with the Avalanche, Johansson went 10-3-2 with one shutout and a .904 save percentage. He also appeared in two games with the Florida Panthers in a brief stint after being claimed off waivers, posting a 0-2-0 record and a .766 save percentage.
Overall, the Gavle, Sweden product has appeared in 80 career NHL games, posting a 32-26-12 record to go with a 3.29 goals against average and .890 save percentage and four shutouts with the Lightning, Avalanche, Panthers and Sabres.
Tampa finished second in the Atlantic Division with a 47-27-8 record and 102 points. Ultimately, the Bolts were eliminated in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs by the Florida Panthers, marking yet another first-round exit for the club since winning back-to-back Stanley Cup championships and appearing in a third straight final.
