Lightning sign Point to eight-year extension

The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed forward Brayden Point to an eight-year extension with an AAV of $9.5 million., according to Joe Smith of The Athletic.
The 25-year-old center scored 23 goals and tallied 25 assists through 56 regular-season games. In the 2020-21 playoffs, Point scored 14 goals through 23 games.
“He’s one of the most dynamic players in the NHL,” GM Julien BriseBois told The Athletic. “To be able to agree to terms with him on a long-term contract is great news for our organization going forward. Not only is Brayden a skilled player, he is also a fierce competitor..”
Point is coming off of a three-year deal that carried an AAV of $6.75 million.
