The Los Angeles Kings have placed forward Alex Iafallo on injured reserve with a lower-body injury, the club announced Tuesday.

The NHL Network’s Jon Rosen reported that Iafallo is currently considered week-to-week with the injury, which he sustained in the third period of Monday’s game against the Detroit Red Wings.

In a corresponding move, the Kings recalled defenseman Jacob Moverare from the American Hockey League’s Ontario Reign on Tuesday morning.

Iafallo, 28, has two goals and five points in four games with the Kings this season. He recorded an assist in 14:41 of total ice time before making his early departure from Monday’s game.

The 6′, 200-pound forward left the ice gingerly after colliding with Red Wings defenseman Robert Hagg along the corner boards in the Kings’ attacking zone.

The Kings signed Iafallo to a four-year, $16 million contract extension back in April 2021. The Eden, NY product scored 17 goals and 37 points in 79 games with the Kings in 2021–22, the first season covered by his new deal.

Iafallo is required to remain on injured reserve for a week before he can be activated again. He’ll be eligible to return, at the earliest, in time for the Kings’ home game against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Oct. 25.

In 365 career games with the Kings over parts of six NHL regular seasons, Iafallo has scored 73 goals and 173 points. He’s added two goals and five points in 10 career playoff games.
