The Los Angeles Kings have signed forward Andrei Kuzmenko to a one-year contract extension, the club announced Monday afternoon.

Kuzmenko, 29, collected 11 goals and 37 points in 66 games split between the Calgary Flames, Philadelphia Flyers, and Kings during the 2024-25 regular season. The Russian winger added three goals and six points in six games with the Kings in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

According to the club’s press release, Kuzmenko’s new contract with the Kings carries a $4.3 million cap hit. The 5’11” winger had been slated to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

The Kings originally acquired Kuzmenko from the Flyers at the 2025 trade deadline alongside a 2025 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2027 third-round pick. He scored five goals and 17 points in 22 games with the Kings to conclude the 2024-25 season.

Prior to that, Kuzmenko had appeared in seven games with the Flyers (scoring five points) after being included in a notable trade with the Flames on January 31. The Flames traded Kuzmenko, Jakob Pelletier, and a 2025 second-round pick (used to select Shane Vansaghi) to the Flyers in exchange for Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee.

Kuzmenko first arrived in the NHL with the Vancouver Canucks in the 2022-23 season after spending the first major chunk of his career with the KHL club SKA St. Petersburg. ‘Kuzy’ scored 39 goals and 74 points in 82 games with the Canucks in his first season, although he was too old to be considered a rookie.

Amidst a long period of struggles with the Canucks in his second season, Kuzmenko found himself included in a significant deal with the Flames that saw Elias Lindholm head to Vancouver for a package that also included Hunter Brzustewicz and a 2024 first-round pick (used on Matvei Gridin).

Through 219 career NHL games over parts of three seasons with the Canucks, Flames, Flyers, and Kings, Kuzmenko has collected 72 goals and 157 points. He’s added six points in his six career playoff games, all with L.A. in 2025.
