A talented young center has inked his first NHL contract.

On Monday, the Los Angeles Kings announced that forward Jimmy Lombardi has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the team.

The Kings took Lombardi in the fourth round, 125th overall, of the 2025 NHL Draft. It came after a fruitful second season with the Flint Firebirds of the Ontario Hockey League for the Toronto native. In 63 games, he posted 13 goals and 32 assists for a career-high 45 points, finishing tied for fourth on the team in scoring. Lombardi also posted an assist in Flint’s first-round series against the Kitchener Rangers, which ultimately saw the Firebirds fall in five games.

This season, Lombardi is off to a great start. On pace for a career year, the 18-year-old has potted 21 goals and 20 assists for 41 pointsin 33 games. He sits second on the Firebirds in goals, third in assists and points, while placing himself atop the OHL ranks with six game-winning goals thus far. Lombardi’s efforts have helped place the Firebirds atop the Western Conference standings, sitting tied with the Ottawa 67’s for the best record in the league, as of Monday.

Lombardi is regarded as a strong two-way player down the middle, with a knack for creating scoring chances. While his goal production is up this season, he can be seen quarterbacking a power play now and then.

Lombardi is also committed to play at the University of Michigan next season, giving the Wolverines, who are one of the best teams in the country this season, some more offensive punch in the near future.

Prior to being drafted by Flint in the second round of the OHL Draft, Lombardi was a product of the strong Don Mills Flyers program, playing of the U16 AAA squad at the OHL Cup in 2023. He also played for Toronto Pro Hockey in the exciting Brick Invitational in 2017.
