Kings sign Mats Zuccarello to one-year contract

The Los Angeles Kings signed Mats Zuccarello to a one-year contract, according to multiple reports.
The first to report a potential deal was ESPN’s Emily Kaplan, while TSN’s Pierre LeBrun confirmed the length of the deal.
One-year deal with bonuses for Zuccarello signing with LA Kings. Erik Gusttafsson is also signing with the Kings.
TSN’s Chris Johnston later confirmed the deal is worth $1 million plus bonuses.
The 38-year-old winger is coming off a 2025-26 campaign that saw him score 15 goals and recorded 39 assists for 54 points in 59 regular-season games with the Minnesota Wild. He also scored twice and added seven assists for nine points in eight Stanley Cup Playoff games last spring.

In 16 NHL campaigns, Zuccarello has recorded 232 goals and added 512 assists for 744 points in 963 regular-season games with the Wild, Dallas Stars and New York Rangers. He also has 21 goals and 46 assists for 67 points in 110 playoff games.

His best statistical season came in 2021-22, when in 70 games with Minnesota, he scored 24 goals and hit career highs with 55 assists and 79 points.
He became an unrestricted free agent after his two-year, $8.25-million contract extension signed ahead of the 2023-24 season expired.
Before joining the NHL, Zucarrello played for Modo Hockey in the Swedish Elite League. In 2009-10, he scored 23 goals and added 41 assists for 64 points, winning the annual Golden Helmet awarded to the most valuable player.
The Kings went 35-27-20 with 90 points in 2025-26, where they finished fourth in the Pacific Division and clinched the second Wildcard spot in the Western Conference.
