Macklemore and Marshawn Lynch become minority owners of Seattle Kraken

The Seattle Kraken announced Monday that Macklemore and Marshawn Lynch have joined the team as minority owners.

The team made the announcement as they approach their final weeks of their first season in the NHL. While the terms of Macklemore and Lynch’s investments aren’t public, usually investments like this are less than 1%.

Macklemore is a rapper from the Seattle area, who collaborated with producer Ryan Lewis, with whom he’s released one mixtape, three EPs, and four albums. Known for his hit singles “Thrift Shop” and “Can’t Hold Us”, Macklemore has won Grammys for Best New Artist, Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance.

Marshawn Lynch isn’t from the Seattle area like Macklemore, but Lynch well known in the city as a longtime NFL running back for the Seattle Seahawks. He was considered one of the best running backs in the game during his time with the Seahawks, where he led the league in rushing touchdowns in 2013 and 2014, broke at least 18 Seahawks franchise records, and helped the team to a Super Bowl win in 2013.

Lynch seems to be enjoying himself in the early going of his time as a minority owner, as he was found driving around on the zamboni, including doing donuts on the ice with it.
