Maple Leafs’ Jake McCabe, Bruins’ Charlie Coyle fined $5,000 for incidents on March 7
The NHL’s Department of Player Safety announced two fines coming out of Thursday night’s game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins.
Toronto’s Jake McCabe has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for cross-checking Boston’s Brad Marchand.

McCabe received only an interference penalty on the play.
Boston’s Charlie Coyle has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for cross-checking Toronto’s Tyler Bertuzzi.
Bruins’ forward Charlie Coyle was also fined $5,000 for cross-checking Maple Leafs’ forward Tyler Bertuzzi in the second period of the game.

Coyle received a double-minor for both high-sticking and slashing on the play.
The Bruins won the game 4-1. Boston is currently 37-13-15 with 89 points, second in the Atlantic Division. Meanwhile, the Maple Leafs drop to 36-19-8 with 80 points, third in the Atlantic Division. If the playoffs were to start today, the two teams would face off in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Since 2013, Boston and Toronto have faced each other three times in the first round of the playoffs, with the Bruins winning each series in seven games.
