Maple Leafs, Mark Hunter “mutually agree to part ways”

The Maple Leafs’ front office shuffle continued on Tuesday.

A few days after senior adviser Lou Lamoriello left the organization, the Maple Leafs and Assistant General Manager Mark Hunter mutually agreed to part ways.

Kyle Dubas was promoted into the General Manager position following Lamoriello’s departure, a job that was likely coveted by Hunter.

Hunter had been with the Maple Leafs since 2014 after a great run with the OHL’s London Knights. According to TSN’s Bob McKenzie, Hunter is not permitted to work for another team until after the 2018 NHL Draft and Free Agency periods.

There is no indication where Hunter may be headed next, but Dubas now has a chance to bring his own people in around him in his first offseason as the Maple Leafs’ GM.
