Maple Leafs place Bobby McMann on IR, Calle Jarnkrok to be re-evaluated

The Toronto Maple Leafs are placing rookie forward Bobby McMann on Injured Reserve with an undisclosed lingering injury, according to The Hockey News’ David Alter.

Alter also reported that Maple Leafs’ head coach Sheldon Keefe said they won’t know the full extent of Calle Jarnkrok’s injury until they get it assessed. The Maple Leafs’ forward injured himself in practice on Friday, slamming his glove to the ground after he stepped off the ice.

McMann, 27, has spent most of his professional career between the ECHL and AHL, but has spent the majority of the 2023-24 regular season with the NHL club. Through 22 games this season, McMann has two goals and five assists for seven points, averaging 9:22 of ice time.
As for Jarnkrok, 32, he’s scored 10 goals and nine assists for 19 points through 46 games, averaging 15:18 of ice time. He joined the Maple Leafs in July 2022, signing a four-year, $8.4 million contract.
Across 11 NHL seasons, Jarnkrok has scored 136 goals and 163 assists for 299 points in 693 career games with the maple Leafs, Calgary Flames, Seattle Kraken and Nashville Predators.
As of Jan. 26, the Maple Leafs are 24-14-8 with 56 points in 46 games, fourth in the Atlantic Division and clinging onto the first Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
Following their 1-0 overtime win on Wednesday over the Winnipeg Jets, both teams flew back to Manitoba for the second half of a home-and-home, scheduled for Saturday at 7 p.m. EST.
