Maple Leafs sign Bobby McMann to two-year, $1.35 million AAV extension

Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving announced Wednesday that the club has re-signed forward Bobby McMann to a two-year, $2,700,000 million contract extension. The contract has an average annual value (AAV) of $1.35 million and will begin in the 2024-25 season.

McMann has registered 10 goals and eight assists for 18 points and 36 penalty minutes in 40 games with the Maple Leafs this season. McMann scored his first NHL hat trick on February 13th against the St. Louis Blues as the Maple Leafs defeated the Blues 4-1.

The Wainwright, Alberta product was an undrafted free agent signing by the Maple Leafs, first joining the organization on a two-year American Hockey League (AHL) contract with the Toronto Marlies in 2020. Following two seasons in the ECHL with the Newfoundland Growlers and the AHL with the Marlies, McMann signed a two-year contract with the Leafs that saw him have a cap hit of $762,500. In 118 career AHL games with the Marlies, McMann has registered 49 goals and 22 assists for 71 points. At the NHL level, he has tallied 10 goals and nine assists for 19 points in 50 career games.

Before turning pro, McMann played in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) with the Bonnyville Pontiacs, during his final season he notched 36 goals and 68 points in 47 games. McMann then made the jump to the NCAA with Colgate University and served as captain during the 2019-20 season. During the 2018-19 campaign, McMann was named to the NCAA ECAC Third All-Star Team after registering 23 points in 36 games. Throughout his four years at Colgate, he tallied 92 points in 145 career games.

The Maple Leafs are slated to face off against the Philadelphia Flyers tomorrow and the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday.
