The Carolina Hurricanes have signed center Mark Jankowski to a two-year contract extension, the club announced Monday morning.

Jankowski, 31, collected 11 goals and 21 points in 68 games with the Hurricanes during the 2025-26 regular season. The 6’4″ forward has added one assist in eight playoff games this spring (and has also had two goals overturned on review).

According to the Hurricanes, Jankowski’s new contract carries a $1.85 million cap hit for both the 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons, a significant increase from his current $800,000 salary.

“Mark has been an excellent fit for our organization throughout his time here,” Hurricanes general manager Eric Tulsky said in a media release on Monday. “He’s proven he can contribute in different ways, and we are glad he’s chosen to remain with the organization.”

The Hurricanes originally acquired Jankowski from the Nashville Predators for a fifth-round pick late in the 2024-25 season. After being traded, Jankowski finished the season with eight goals in 19 games with the Hurricanes.

A first-round pick (No. 21 overall) of the Calgary Flames in the 2012 NHL Draft, Jankowski spent four seasons at Providence College before turning pro in the Flames organization in 2016. He made his NHL debut with the Flames in the 2016-17 season and ultimately spent parts of four seasons with the club.

After leaving the Flames as a free agent in 2020, Jankowski played brief stints with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Buffalo Sabres before joining the Predators, with whom he began to re-establish himself as an everyday NHLer. He scored his first and only Stanley Cup Playoff goal with the Predators in 2024.

Through 482 career NHL games with the Flames, Penguins, Sabres, Predators, and Hurricanes, Jankowski has collected 79 goals and 145 points. He’s added a goal and four points in 31 playoff contests.
