Michael Rasmussen suspended two games for high-sticking David Krejci

Detroit Red Wings forward Michael Rasmussen has been given a two-game suspension after high-sticking David Krejci on Thursday.
Rasmussen received a two-minute minor for high-sticking Boston’s David Krejci on Thursday, with the Czech forward forced to miss the rest of the game. Rasmussen initially hit Krejci along the boards before turning around and catching Krejci up high with his stick on the follow-through.
Rasmussen, 23, is off to one of the best starts of his career with five points in seven games. Taken ninth overall in 2017, Rasmussen has a career-high total of 15 goals and 27 points last season while finally starting to emerge as a physical, bottom-six goal scorer.
Outside of Rasmussen, Dominik Kubalik has been a revelation with 10 points in seven games, while Dylan Larkin, David Perron and Oskar Sundqvist have also done some early damage. The team hasn’t gotten much out of Lucas Raymond (zero goals, two assists in seven games), Filip Zadina (zero points in five games) or Tyler Bertuzzi (one assist), who hasn’t played since Oct. 17 due to injury. Jakub Vrana is also out indefinitely after entering the NHL/NHLPA’s Player Assistance Program.
So Rasmussen finding his offensive game was a nice bonus for the team. Now they won’t have him back in the lineup until Nov. 3 when the Wings host the Washington Capitals.
