Frost re-acquire Denisa Krizova from Goldeneyes for Anna Segedi

A preseason trade? In the PWHL? In this economy? You better believe it.
On Wednesday, not long before the deadline for teams to finalize their rosters for the 2025-26 season, the Minnesota Frost re-acquired forward Denisa Křížová from the Vancouver Goldeneyes. In return, the Goldeneyes receive forward Anna Segedi.
Křížová began her PWHL tenure with Minnesota, but was claimed by the Goldeneyes in the expansion draft in June. Even though she had proven to be a solid secondary scoring threat in her first two years in the league, it was going to be tough for the Czech winger to get substantial ice time with a stacked roster ahead of her. On top of that, there have been rumors circulating that Vancouver is pushing close to the salary cap, meaning general manager Cara Gardner Morey had to make a move.
The 31-year-old played in the Goldeneyes’ second preseason game against the Seattle Torrent, playing on a line with Brooke McQuigge and Darcie Lappan, but didn’t register a point.
Křížová had been with Minnesota since day one, as she was taken by the team in the eighth round of the inaugural PWHL Draft in 2023. While she didn’t light up the scoreboard as Kendall Coyne Schofield and Sophie Jaques did, she was a solid depth piece on a team that has won the first two Walter Cups. After notching six points in 24 games during the 2024 regular season, she scored two goals in Minnesota’s semifinal series against Toronto.
Last season, Křížová once again played the entire season, scoring four goals and five assists for nine points in 30 games. However, she didn’t put up any points in the playoffs.
In 72 career games in the PWHL, both regular-season and postseason, the former Northeastern star has scored nine goals and eight assists for 17 points.
Segedi was taken by Minnesota in the third round, 22nd overall, of the 2025 PWHL Draft. She later signed a two-year contract with the defending champs and was expected to bring some depth to the roster.
Yet, there’s some familiarity between Segedi and her new team. The expansion team’s head coach, Brian Idalski, was the bench boss for Team China at the 2022 Winter Olympics, which included Segedi.
The Commerce Township, Mich. native played five years at St. Lawrence, serving as team captain last season. She played a crucial role in helping the Saints advance to the NCAA Tournament in each of the past two campaigns. In 164 games in Canton, N.Y., Segedi scored 54 goals and 65 assists for 119 points, earning All-ECAC Third-Team honors in her final two years with the program.
The Frost begin another title defense on Friday night with an anticipated matchup with the Toronto Sceptres, while the Goldeneyes face the Torrent on Friday night.
