The two-time defending Walter Cup champion Minnesota Frost are bringing back one of their key contributors for a while longer, extending forward Britta Curl-Salemme for an additional two seasons, securing her through the 2027-28 season.

Initially selected in the second round of the 2024 PWHL Draft, Curl-Salemme was set to enter the second year of her original contract, but will now be locked up for additional seasons, as one of the few players in the PWHL with contractual stability well into the future.

Only goaltender Maddie Rooney is also signed with the Frost through 2027-28.

The 25-year-old finished third among rookies in PWHL scoring in 2024-25, netting nine goals and 15 points, before putting up three goals in seven Walter Cup Playoff games, including two in Game 2 of the Walter Cup finals against the Ottawa Charge.

“We knew what we were getting in Britta, and she has lived up to every expectation,” said Frost General Manager Melissa Caruso.

“She’s made a meaningful impact on the ice, brought great energy to the locker room… We’re looking forward to three more seasons of having her in the Frost family and can’t wait to watch her continue to grow as a player and a person.”

Ahead of joining the PWHL, Curl-Salemme established herself as one of the top NCAA players, serving as the captain of the University of Wisconsin Badgers for two seasons, while winning three NCAA National Championships.

Through her decorated collegiate career, she skated in 181 games over five seasons and posted 86 goals and 179 points, the eighth most in Wisconsin’s women’s hockey history.

With her success in college and in the PWHL, she has also carved out a key role with Team USA, playing in four IIHF Women’s World Championships, winning gold in 2023 and 2025, as well as silver in 2021 and 2024.

In addition to her offensive successes, her physical play has also hampered her availability, earning her three suspensions, including a one-game ban in the 2025 Walter Cup Playoffs for a hit on Toronto Sceptres defender Renata Fast in Game 1 of the semifinals.

“I am thrilled to be staying in Minnesota for the next three years,” said Curl-Salemme. “This community and organization feels like home, and I can’t wait to compete for another Walter Cup wearing the Frost jersey in front of our great fans!”

She and the Frost drop the puck on their third PWHL season on Nov. 21 against the Sceptres.
