It’s been a promising month of March for the Minnesota Wild, going 4-1-1 and now winners of three straight. The streak started after head coach Jon Hynes pulled the goalie in overtime, leading to a 4-3 win over the Nashville Predators, one of the teams the Wild are chasing in the Wild Card race.

Following a 2-0 win over the Ducks on Thursday, the wild are 33-27-7 with 73 points, four points behind the Vegas Golden knights for the No. 2 Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. There’s a chance that the team from the State of Hockey could squeak into the post-season, but how realistic is that?

On Friday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Tyler Yaremchuk and Colby Cohen discuss the Wild’s winning ways and if they can carry it into the spring.

Tyler Yaremchuk: Three straight wins for the Wild, a 16-save shutout for Marc-Andre Fleury on Thursday in a 2-0 win over the Anaheim Ducks. Unlike the New Jersey Devils, the Wild just have to jump into a playoff spot.

Colby Cohen: This team has really buckled down defensively. They gave up just 16 shots to the Ducks and they’ve defended around their net a lot better, another 24-and-a-half minute night for Brock Faber. You see Kirill Kaprizov get on the board with a goal and eight shots on net. They’re still running hot from that OT-win against Nashville.

They have a new coach with Hynes so players have extra motivation to finish the season hard to try and set themselves in a good light with Hynes for next season. You look at the teams they’re chasing, I still think the Vegas Golden Knights will get into the playoffs, even though they don’t look good, and I still think the Predators are going to get in.
