The Minnesota Wild have hired Ray Shero as a senior advisor to general manager Bill Guerin.

Shero, 58, most recently spent time as general manager and executive vice-president of the New Jersey Devils from 2015 to 2020.

His longest NHL stint came with the Pittsburgh Penguins where between 2006 and 2014, he served as the club’s general manager and executive vice president.

It’s there where in 2009 Shero acquired Guerin, who had been playing with the New York Islanders. He spent the 2009-10 season with Penguins before retiring from the NHL at age 39.

Shero also has served as an assistant general manager for the Ottawa Senators from 1993-98 and the Nashville Predators from 1998-06.
