Wild’s Brodin out week-to-week, Eriksson Ek day-to-day

Minnesota Wild head coach John Hynes told reporters Thursday that defenseman Jonas Brodin will be out week-to-week with an injury, while forward Joel Eriksson Ek is considered day-to-day.
Hynes said week to week for Brodin. Wouldn’t go as far as to say his Olympics are in jeopardy yet. Eriksson Ek out, day to day. Will go on trip.
Hynes wouldn’t say if Brodin’s injury status would affect his spot with the Swedish Olympic men’s hockey team.
Brodin last played during the Wild’s 5-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils on Monday, finishing with an assist in 18:24 of ice time. He has three goals and 12 assists for 15 points in 42 games this season.
Now in his 14th NHL campaign, the Swedish blueliner has 61 goals and 214 assists for 275 points in 895 career regular-season games.
He’s also played in 73 Stanley Cup Playoff games, where he’s recorded two goals and 15 assists for 17 points.
Meanwhile, Eriksson Ek has 11 goals and 21 assists for 32 points in 45 games played. Now in his 10th season, the Swedish forward has 147 goals and 184 assists for 331 points in 589 career regular-season games.
He’s also played in 32 playoff games, where he’s got six goals and seven assists for 13 points.
Minnesota is 26-12-9 with 61 points through 47 games in 2025-26, third in the division and Western Conference, as well as the entire league.
Kirill Kaprizov leads the team in assists and points with 27 and 52, respectively, while Matt Boldy has a team-leading 27 goals. With 27 and 25 goals, Boldy and Kaprizov are third and fifth in the NHL among all skaters, respectively.
The Wild host the Winnipeg Jets Thursday night, then travel to western New York to face the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday.
