Wild sign Cal Petersen, Bradley Marek to one-year deals

The Minnesota Wild announced a number of signings on Wednesday, including goaltender Cal Petersen and forward Bradley Marek to one-year deals.

The 30-year-old Petersen spent the 2024-25 season with the Philadelphia Flyers’ AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, posting a 13-15-3 record with a 3.14 goals against average (GAA) and .885 save percentage (SV%) in 31 appearances. In 215 career AHL games, the Waterloo, Iowa, native has a 92-98-30 record with a 3.13 GAA, a .901 SV% and 11 shutouts with the Phantoms and Ontario Reign, the Los Angeles Kings’ AHL affiliate.

In 15 career Calder Cup Playoff appearances, he has a 5-10-1 record with a 2.94 GAA and .884 SV%. He was named an AHL All-Star in 2017-18 and 2019-20.

Petersen has also played in 106 career NHL games with the Flyers and Kings, posting a 46-44-10 record with a .903 SV% and 2.96 GAA.

Marek, 24, scored eight goals and added five assists for 13 points and 67 penalty minutes in 50 games with the Wild’s AHL affiliate, the Iowa Wild. The 6-foot-4 forward has 13 goals and six assists for 19 points and 71 penalty minutes in 76 career AHL games with the Wild and the San Jose Barracuda, the San Jose Sharks’ minor league affiliate.

Marek played 37 games with the ECHL’s Wichita Thunder, scoring 13 goals and 18 assists for 31 points.

In college, Marek spent two seasons at Ferris State University, scoring 17 goals and 19 assists for 36 points in 72 career games, earning Rookie of the Year honours in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) in 2021-22.
