Vegas Golden Knights forward Mitch Marner set a new club record for the most points in a single playoff run with his third point of the evening against the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday in Game 3 of the 2026 Stanley Cup Final.

Marner, 29, scored a natural hat trick and added an assist in the second period of Saturday’s game to give the Golden Knights a 4-0 lead over the Hurricanes. With those four points, he upped his totals for the spring to 10 goals and 28 points in 19 playoff contests.

In the process, Marner eclipsed the Golden Knights’ previous single-playoff record of 26 points, set by Jack Eichel in the club’s successful run to the Stanley Cup in 2023. Marner entered Saturday’s game in a tie with Mark Stone’s 2023 run for third in club history, and one point back of matching Jonathan Marchessault’s 25 points from the same year.

According to the NHL’s public relations department, Marner required the least time (6:10) to score a hat trick in Stanley Cup Final history, eclipsing a 69-year-old record held by Maurice Richard, who scored three goals just 6:29 apart in Game 1 of the 1957 Final.

Marner is the runaway scoring leader among all players in the 2026 playoffs. He now has eight more points than the next-closest player, Jack Eichel, and is widely considered one of the favorites to win the Conn Smythe Trophy as the NHL’s playoff MVP.

This is Marner’s first season as a member of the Golden Knights. The star winger arrived in Vegas last summer via a sign-and-trade deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs, with whom he spent the first nine seasons of his career.

Originally selected by Toronto with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, Marner developed a reputation for underwhelming playoff performances while with the Maple Leafs. But after strong performances at both the 4 Nations Face-Off and the 2026 Winter Olympics, Marner seems to have officially turned over a new leaf in his first playoff experience as a Golden Knight.

Through 738 career NHL games over 10 seasons split between Toronto and Vegas, Marner has collected 245 goals and 821 points. The Markham, Ont. product has now added 23 goals and 91 points in 89 career playoff contests.
