Montreal Canadiens’ defenseman Jordan Harris day-to-day with lower-body injury

The Montreal Canadiens announced Thursday that defenseman Jordan Harris will miss tonight’s game versus New York Rangers injury a lower-body injury. He is considered to be day-to-day.

— Renaud Lavoie (@renlavoietva) March 9, 2023The 22-year-old has recorded 15 points (three goals, 12 assists) in 60 games during his rookie campaign so far. Harris recently signed a two-year, $2.8 million contract extension; the contract holds an average annual value (AAV) of $1.4 million.
The Haverhill, Massachusetts product was drafted 71st overall by the Canadiens at the 2018 NHL Draft. Harris played high school hockey at the time he was drafted for the Kimball Union Academy of the United States High School-Prep League; he also had a brief five-game stint with the Youngstown Phantoms of the United States Hockey League (USHL). Harris spent four seasons at the Northeastern University of the NCAA. He is a two-time NCAA (Hockey East) Champion and in 2021-22 he won the NCAA (Hockey East) Best Defensive Defenseman of the Year award, he was also named to the NCAA Second All-American Team and Hockey East First All-Star Team. He appeared in 130 career NCAA games, totalling 15 goals and 58 assists for 73 points. He made his NHL debut last season playing in 10 games and registered his first NHL goal against the Florida Panthers.
Additionally, on the injury front, Renaud Lavoie also reported that Kaiden Guhle was sporting a regular jersey this morning at practice after missing two games with an upper-body injury. He has previously missed time for a knee injury. Justin Barron was wearing a non-contact jersey while he deals with an upper-body injury. Barron left Mar. 2, 3-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings after taking a hit from Kings forward Carl Grundstrom. Finally, Christian Dvorak is also sidelined with a lower-body injury, no timeline set yet for a return. The Canadiens have recalled Anthony Richard from their American Hockey League affiliate Laval Rocket.
