Montreal Canadiens place Joel Armia, Jake Evans and Juraj Slafkovksy on IR

The Montreal Canadiens announced Tuesday that they have placed forwards Joel Armia, Jake Evans and Juraj Slafkovsky on injured reserve. All three forwards will be evaluated more throughout the next few days.

Armia is sidelined with an upper-body injury, he has recorded seven points in 32 games this season, notching three points in his last five games. Evans is out with a lower-body injury. He sustained the injury during Saturday’s 2-1 loss to the New York Islanders. Evans has collected 11 points (two goals, nine assists) in 43 games this season, Evans had four points in his last five games. 

During Sunday’s game against the New York Rangers, Slafkovsky was forced to leave with a lower-body injury. Slafkovksy, who as the Canadiens’ first overall selection at the 2022 NHL Draft, logged 9:04 of ice time and left mid-way through the third period. Throughout his rookie campaign, he has recorded 10 points (four goals, six assists) in 39 games. He is listed as day-to-day.

Meanwhile, the Canadiens have also announced that they have placed Sean Monahan on the long-term injured reserve (LTIR) with a lower-body injury that he continues to nurse. The Canadiens’ noted that he is making progress and will continue his on-ice rehab. Monahan has registered 17 points in 25 games this season, ranking him fourth among Canadiens skaters in what has been a turnaround year for the 28-year-old. 

The Canadiens announced that due to the injuries they have called up Rafael Harvey-Pinard and Rem Pitlick from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate Laval Rocket. Harvey Pinard has registered 25 points (15G, 10A) in 37 contests this season. Pitlick has recorded 22 points in 18 appearances. Through 14 games this season while with the Canadiens, Pitlick notched one goal.
