Montreal Canadiens Sign Nick Suzuki To Eight-Year Extension

The Montreal Canadiens have signed Nick Suzuki to a massive eight-year contract extension, the club announced Tuesday.
Suzuki’s new deal will see him earn an AAV of $7.875-million.
Originally acquired from the Vegas Golden Knights along with Tomas Tatar and a 2019 second-round pick, Suzuki has appeared in 127 games over the last two seasons scoring 28 goals and 82 points.
This past season was his most productive in the NHL where in 56 games he scored 15 goals and 41 points and in the playoffs, he showed up. In 22 games in the Habs’ run last year, he scored seven goals and 16 points.
“We are very happy to secure Nick’s services for the next eight seasons,” Habs general manager Marc Bergevin said in a statement.

Year 1 – $6-million salary, $4-million signing bonus
Year 2 – $10-m salary
Year 3 – $10-m salary
Year 4 – $8.75-m salary
Year 5 – $6.25-m salary
Year 6 – $6-m salary
Year 7 – $3-m salary, $3-m signing bonus
Year 8 – $3-m salary, $3-m signing bonus
