Victoire re-sign Skylar Irving to one-year contract

A promising youngster is going to stick around La Belle Province for another year.
On Tuesday, the Montreal Victoire announced that the team has re-signed forward Skylar Irving to a one-year contract for the 2026-27 season.
Irving was a restricted free agent, coming off a solid rookie season with the Victoire. Appearing in 27 of the team’s 30 regular-season contests, the Kingston, Mass. native posted three goals and six assists for nine points, finishing tied for eighth on the team in scoring. She also posted a +5 plus/minus while averaging 10:41 of ice time per game. Irving played in just two postseason games, as Montreal went on to win the franchise’s first Walter Cup.
While she isn’t the most prominent player on a stacked Victoire roster, the 24-year-old proved she can be a solid depth piece, and further development could open the door to a more prominent role with the Victoire down the line.
Irving was taken by the Victoire in the third round, 20th overall, of the 2025 PWHL Draft.
Prior to coming to the PWHL, Irving had an exceptional career at Northeastern University. In 152 games with the Huskies, she scored 42 goals and 57 assists for 99 points, helping her team win two Hockey East championships and reach the NCAA Women’s Frozen Four in 2022 and 2023.
With the signing, the Victoire have 19 players under contract for next season, the maximum allowed before training camp opens next month. Irving stays with a Montreal team looking to run it back and chase another championship. General manager Daniele Sauvageau has gone out and added some key players to their roster, including offensive sparkplugs Jessie Eldridge and Emma Maltais.
The Victoire will open the 2026-27 season on Dec. 5 against the expansion PWHL Hamilton.
