New Nashville Predators president of hockey operations Chris MacFarland has made a second trade with his former team in as many weeks.

Just after acquiring Ross Colton in a trade with the Colorado Avalanche, MacFarland and his former boss Joe Sakic cobbled together another deal on Wednesday.

This time, the Avalanche are sending center Jack Drury, AHL forward Chase Bradley and a third-round pick in the 2029 NHL Draft to the Music City in exchange for forwards Fedor Svechkov and Zachary L’Heureux.

Drury, who was part of the return MacFarland secured for the Avalanche when he sent Mikko Rantanen to the Carolina Hurricanes in January of 2025, is a restricted free agent in need of a new contract for next season.

A fourth-line center who excels on the defensive side of the puck and in the face-off dot, Drury matched a career-high this past season with 27 points on 10 goals and 17 assists while appearing in all 82 regular season games.

Bradley is an AHL depth forward who chipped in 12 points in 42 contests for the Colorado Eagles, while the 2029 pick adds another future top 100 selection to the Predators’ growing stockpile of draft capital.

For Colorado general manager Joe Sakic, this move subtracts one bottom-six forward who was due a raise and adds a pair that will combine to make just $2.125 million against the salary cap next season. For a team with just $4.8 million in space under the 2026-27 salary cap, according to PuckPedia, filling depth spots at such a low cost is a savvy move.

Svechkov was the No. 19 overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, and he is coming off a campaign with Nashville that saw him post 17 points in 70 games.

L’Heureux, a tough forward who plays with considerable, edge, split his time between the Predators (5 points in 25 games) and their AHL affiliate Milwaukee Admirals (28 points in 30 games) this season.
