Predators acquire Bourque, Lyubushkin from Stars for draft picks

The Nashville Predators acquired forward Mavrik Bourque and defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin from the Dallas Stars in exchange for a 2027 second-round pick and a 2028 third-round pick.

The first to report the details of the trade was Daily Faceoff’s Anthony Di Marco.

TSN hockey insider Chris Johnston also reported that the Predators are working towards an extension with Bourque, who is a restricted free agent. The 24-year-old winger is coming off a one-year, $950,000 deal.

Bourque finished the 2025-26 season with 20 goals and 21 assists for 41 points in 82 games. In two full NHL campaigns, the Plessisville, Que., native has 31 goals and 35 assists for 66 points in 156 career regular-season games. He also has one goal in 10 career Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Taken in the first round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, Bourque spent parts of three seasons in the American Hockey League, where he scored 47 goals and 82 assists for 129 points in 147 regular-season games.

Lyubushkin, 32, had one goal and eight assists for nine points while averaging 15:44 of ice time in 53 games in 2025-26. He has one year left on his contract with a $3.25-million cap hit.

In eight NHL seasons, the Moscow native has seven goals and 63 assists for 70 points in 486 career regular-season games with the Stars, Toronto Maple Leafs, Anaheim Ducks, Buffalo Sabres and Arizona Coyotes.
