Predators sign Tyson Jost to one-year contract

The Nashville Predators announced on Monday that they have signed veteran forward to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2026-27 season.

Jost was in camp with the Predators on a PTO after spending most of the NHL season with Nashville last year. Jost appeared in 69 regular season games during the 2025-26 campaign, tallying eight goals and eight assists for a total of 16 points while skating to a minus-21 rating on an average of 12:25 of time on ice per game.

According to PuckPedia, Jost’s contract carries a salary cap hit of $850,000 at the NHL level and will pay him at a rate of $475,000 per year while on the AHL roster with a guaranteed minimum for the season of $500,000. PuckPedia also reports that Jost will be placed on waivers following the signing.

A 28-year-old who was chosen with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft by the Colorado Avalanche, Jost is entering his 11th NHL season with 564 regular season appearances under his belt. In those games, he’s racked up 165 points on 69 goals and 96 assists.

The Alberta native’s return to the Nashville organization adds more depth to a forward group that has been significantly overhauled by new president of hockey operations Chris MacFarland.

After making the move over from his previous post as GM of the Avalanche, MacFarland acted quickly to land Ross Colton and Jack Drury from his former team in moves to add veteran depth. Mavrik Bourque, Adam Edstrom, Nils Hoglander and Alex Kerfoot round out the new additions that join the incumbent core of Filip Forsberg, Ryan O’Reilly, Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault up front.

The Predators are looking to rebound from two consecutive regular seasons that saw them miss out on the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Nashville was the biggest disappointment in the league in 2024-25, and a slow start doomed their 2025-26 campaign, though a late push saw them stay in range of the playoff race deep into the regular season.
