Nashville Predators forward Tanner Jeannot will be held out of the lineup tonight versus Arizona Coyotes for trade-related reasons.

The Oxbow, Saskatchewan product has tallied 14 points (five goals, nine assists) 85 penalty minutes and nine fighting majors in 56 games this season. He is shooting at a career-low of 5.7%. Jeannot has racked up 213 hits this season as well, ranking himself fourth league-wide. During his 2021-22 rookie campaign, he notched 24 goals, which led all rookies, and 41 points in 81 games. While he was left off the finalist’s list, he butted his name into talks for the Calder Memorial Trophy. He shot at 19.4%, a major difference compared to this season. During the same season, he set a Predators franchise record with 318 hits in a single season.

The 25-year-old was listed as a new target at No.29 on Frank Seravalli’s Trade Targets board on Daily Faceoff ahead of the NHL’s Trade Deadline. Seravalli notes that Jeannot is, “a player with size, edge and someone who can contribute on the penalty kill.” Jeannot also comes in at a cheap $800,000 average annual value, he will be a restricted free agent this summer.

An undrafted NHL forward, Jeannot spent five seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Moose Jaw Warriors. Throughout his four years with the Warriors, he registered 170 points (77 goals, 93 assists) in 267 games. Jeannot’s career has been a storied one, going from undrafted to grinding in the ECHL and the American Hockey League with the Milwaukee Admirals and Chicago Wolves. His NHL totals include 34 goals and 28 assists for 62 points in 152 games.

Jeannot being held out of the lineup comes the same day the Predators announced that the franchise’s only general manager, David Poile would be stepping down in June, and head coach Barry Trotz is reported to take over. The Predators are fifth in the Central Division with a record of 28-22-6.
