Devils acquire Dennis Cholowski from Islanders for Adam Beckman

The New Jersey Devils acquired defenseman Dennis Cholowski from the New York Islanders in exchange for forward Adam Beckman.

The 27-year-old Cholowski split his 2024-25 season with the Islanders, scoring three goals and seven assists for 10 points, as well as six games with New York’s AHL affiliate, the Bridgeport Islanders. In 150 career NHL games, Cholowski has 13 goals and 27 assists for 40 points with the Islanders, Washington Capitals, Seattle Kraken and Detroit Red Wings.
In 241 career AHL games, Cholowski has 18 goals and 105 assists for 123 points with the Islanders, Charlotte Checkers and Grand Rapids Griffins. The Langley, B.C., native was taken No. 20 overall in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
As for Beckman, the 23-year-old has spent the majority of the 2024-25 campaign with the AHL’s Utica Comets, scoring 13 goals and 20 assists for 33 points in 43 regular-season games. In 224 career AHL games, Beckman has 70 goals and 71 assists for 141 points. His best AHL season came in 2022-23, scoring 24 goals and 12 assists for 36 points in 53 regular-season games.
Taken in the third round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Beckman has also appeared in 23 regular-season games in the NHL, all with the Minnesota Wild.
The Devils are 33-24-6 with 72 points, third in the Metropolitan Division with a plus-31 goal differential. They’ve lost two straight games and are now 4-6-0 in their last 10 games.
As for the Islanders, they are 28-26-7 with 63 points, sixth in the Metropolitan Division with a minus-14 goal differential. They are 4-6-0 in their last 10 games and four points back of a Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
