Devils sign Dennis Cholowski, Marc McLaughlin, Calen Addison, Angus Crookshank to contracts

The New Jersey Devils have announced that they’ve signed defensemen Dennis Cholowski & Calen Addison, center Marc McLaughlin and winger Angus Crookshank to contracts.

— New Jersey Devils (@NJDevils) July 1, 2025Cholowski is one of two players of the bunch re-signing with the Devils, as he had joined the team at the 2025 trade deadline in a deal with the New York Islanders for Adam Beckman. He was a restricted free agent after the conclusion of his one-year contract at a league-minimum salary of $775,000, and returns on an identical contract.
Cholowski is coming off of a season that saw him get the most NHL action he’s had in five years, playing 39 games with three goals and seven assists for 10 points between his time with the Islanders and Devils. The last time he played in more than 20 games was 2019-20, when he played 36. He also got into two playoff games with the Devils, going pointless in both games.
Cholowski also played six games in the AHL when he was with the Islanders, where he had one goal.
McLaughlin also re-signs with the Devils on a one-year contract with a $775,000 cap hit. He was a Group Six UFA after the conclusion of his 2024-25 contract that saw him get an identical salary and term.
McLaughlin spent his season split between the Boston Bruins and the Devils, getting dealt to New Jersey at the trade deadline in exchange for Daniil Misyul. He had two goals and one assist for three points in 14 game in the NHL, and five goals and 15 assists for 20 points in 50 games in the AHL with the Providence Bruins and Utica Comets.
Addison also signs with the Devils on a one-year, $775,000 contract. He secures an NHL contract again after only getting an AHL deal in the 2024-25 season.
Addison spent the 2024-25 season with the Vegas Golden Knights‘ and St. Louis Blues‘ AHL affiliates, the Henderson Silver Knights and Springfield Thunderbirds. He had five goals and 31 assists for 36 points in 62 games.
Like the other three players, Angus Crookshank joins the Devils at a cap hit of $775,000, but he gets a bit more term with a two-year deal. Crookshank was a Group Six UFA after the conclusion of his one-year, $775,000 contract with the Ottawa Senators.
Crookshank got into eight games with the Senators in 2024-25, where he had one assist. He mostly played in the AHL with the Belleville Senators, where he had 22 goals and 18 assists for 40 points in 62 games.
