The hometown kid will make his NHL debut for the New York Islanders.

According to head coach Patrick Roy, defenseman Marshall Warren will draw into the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers.

The 24-year-old Warren hails from Laurel Hollow, which is located on Long Island in Nassau County, where the Islanders played full-time from 1972 until 2015.

Warren was drafted by the Minnesota Wild back in the sixth round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, but didn’t sign with the club and stayed in the NCAA playing for Boston College. He helped the Eagles win the Hockey East regular-season title as a freshman in 2019-20. After four seasons playing for Boston College, Warren spent his fifth year of NCAA eligibility playing for the Michigan Wolverines, where he scored four goals and tallied 14 assists for 18 points in 41 games.

In April of 2024, the 6’0″, 185-pound Warren signed a two-year, entry-level deal with the Islanders as a college free agent. Last season, playing at the AHL-level for the Bridgeport Islanders, Warren put up four goals and 13 assists for 17 points in 53 games played. He’s had a hot stick with Bridgeport so far this season, with two goals and three assists for five points in just four games played.

The Islanders could use the reinforcement along their blueline, as they placed defenseman Alexander Romanov on injured reserve with an upper-body injury on Thursday.

Defenseman Ethan Bear, who signed a one-year, $775,000 deal with New York this offseason, has yet to make his season debut due to an undisclosed injury.

Warren will have to stay in the Islanders’ lineup and stay patient if he wants to play at home in front of friends and family. New York kicks off a four-game road trip with a Saturday game against the Flyers. Their next home game will be on Sunday, Nov. 2 against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
