New York Islanders place Jean-Gabriel Pageau on injured reserve

The New York Islanders announced Thursday that center Jean-Gabriel Pageau has been placed on the injured reserve with an upper-body injury retroactive to Feb. 11, 4-3 overtime loss to the Montreal Canadiens. He logged just over 12 minutes of ice time. Pageau was deemed a scratch for Tuesday’s game against the Ottawa Senators and was labelled as day-to-day.

Pageau, 30, has tallied 29 points (10 goals, 19 assists) in 56 games this season, he currently sits fifth in team scoring. Pageau has also put up 97 shots on net 142 hits this season. Last season, he registered 39 points (18 goals, 21 assists) in 77 games, his highest point total since being acquired by the Islanders at the 2020 trade deadline.

The Ottawa, Ontario product is in his third season with the Islanders since the acquisition from the Ottawa Senators. Shortly after being acquired, Islanders general manager and president of hockey operations Lou Lamoriello signed Pageau to a six-year $30 million contract; the contract carries an average annual value of $5 million. Pageau’s contract also has a modified no-trade clause and a 16-team no-trade list. 

In a corresponding move, the Islanders have recalled forward Andy Andreoff from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate Bridgeport Islanders. Andreoff has registered 20 goals and 38 points in 46 AHL games this season. In 185 career NHL games, Andreoff has tallied 26 points (14 goals, 12 assists) and 225 penalty minutes.
