New York Islanders sign Zach Parise

The New York Islanders signed forward Zach Parise to a contract, the club reported Friday.
Terms of the details were not disclosed by the club and have yet to be released.
Parise, 37, was bought out by the Minnesota Wild earlier in the offseason with six years left on his contract. Now, he reunites with Lou Lamoriello on the Long Island.
He was originally drafted by Lou to the New Jersey Devils 17th overall in the 2003 draft, one of the deepest in NHL history. He appeared in 502 games scoring 194 goals and 216 points with the Devils between 2005 and 2012 before hitting free agency signing a 13-year, $98-million deal with the Wild.
There he appeared in 558 games scoring 199 goals and 400 points before the aforementioned buyout this year. While not the player he once was, he still was a decent contributor for the Wild scoring seven goals and 18 points in 45 games last year.
Parise’s father, J.P., played four seasons with the Islanders between 1974-75 and 1977-78 where he scored 171 points in 240 games.
