Islanders unveil contest winner for 2027-28 third jersey

The New York Islanders unveiled the contest winner of their 2027-28 Third Jersey Design Concept competition on Thursday.
The team announced earlier in the day that the “Navy Lighthouse” concept finished with the most votes in the final, as fans had the chance to vote on eight potential designs in a bracket-style format.
“Islanders fans have once again blown us away with their incredible creativity and the sheer volume of participation,” Kelly Cheeseman, president of business operations for the Islanders and UBS Arena, said last week.
“Both the passion of our fans and their overwhelming support throughout this contest have been extraordinary. From over 80,000 submissions down to our final bracket of eight, every step of this journey proves just how deeply invested Isles Nation is in the identity of this franchise.”
New York announced in July that fans could submit their ideas for the team’s third jersey in what would be their 55th season in franchise history.
“Islanders fans are among the most passionate in all of sports, and their emotional investment is the heartbeat of this franchise,” Cheeseman said in a release.
The final round of voting ran between Tuesday and Thursday, with the two final designs being the Navy Lighthouse and the Navy Islanders jersey.
New York went 43-34-5 with 91 points in 2025-26, sixth in the Metropolitan Division and eight points back of a Wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference. They haven’t made the playoffs since the 2023-24 campaign.
