The NHL has confirmed that the New York Islanders will host the 2027 NHL All-Star weekend festivities at UBS Arena from Feb. 5-7.

Elmont, New York was originally announced as the host for 2026, with the league planning to move forward with the weekend prior to the Winter Olympics. The idea was eventually scrapped in favor of a special send-off event, only for that to be cancelled as part of Friday’s announcement.

Instead, teams will have individual celebrations prior to the Winter Olympics, which will run from Feb. 11-22 in Milan, Italy. More details will be announced at a later date.

The weekend will mark the second time the Islanders have hosted the event, first doing so at the old Nassau Coliseum back in 1983. Wayne Gretzky was named MVP. UBS Arena opened up in 2021, with the building seating 17,250 people for NHL events. The building is also one of the hosts for the PWHL’s New York franchise, hosting four of the team’s games this season.

The NHL last hosted an all-star game in 2024 in Toronto. The league elected to skip the event in 2025 in favor of the 4 Nations Face-Off, which proved a massive success for the league. Canada beat the United States to win gold in the last best-on-best event prior to the Olympics.

2027 will mark the fifth time the NHL has held an all-star game in the Eastern Conference since 2015 – the first all-star game following the most recent Olympic tournament with NHL participation.

Potential all-star participants from the Islanders include top rookie Matthew Schaefer, forward Mathew Barzal and goaltender Ilya Sorokin. Two Islanders players – Billy Smith (1978) and Mike Bossy (1982) – have taken home MVP honors in event history.

Six current NHL markets have yet to host an all-star event: Anaheim, New Jersey, Seattle, Utah, Washington and Winnipeg.
