— Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) November 25, 2025Parssinen, 24, will now be available to be claimed by any other team in the NHL. Should he pass through waivers unclaimed, he’ll likely be assigned to the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack.
In 14 games played for the Rangers this season, Parssinen has two goals and an assist for three points in just under nine minutes of ice time per game.
New York acquired the Finnish national last season in a trade with the Colorado Avalanche, in which the Rangers received Parssinen along with Calvin de Haan and two draft picks in exchange for Hank Kempf, Ryan Lindgren and Jimmy Vesey. In 11 games with the Rangers last season following the deal, Parssinen put up two goals and three assists for five points.
Parssinen was initially drafted by the Nashville Predators in the seventh round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. After a four-year career playing for HC TPS in SM-Liiga, he made his North American debut by joining the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals for the 2021-22 postseaon, in which he contributed a goal and two assists for three points in nine games.
He spent the majority of the following season, 2022-23, playing in Nashville, where he notched six goals and 19 assists for 25 points in 45 games, which is solid production for a rookie. In the 2023-24 season, he played 44 games for the Predators but saw his numbers fall to eight goals and four assists for 12 total points. He also played 36 games for Milwaukee that season, where he managed seven goals and 18 assists for 25 points.
Last season, Parssinen played 37 games split between the Predators and the Avalanche before getting dealt to the Rangers, in which he tallied four goals and seven assists for 11 points.
