The New York Rangers have signed goaltender Jonathan Quick to a one-year contract, TSN’s Pierre LeBrun reported Saturday afternoon.

Quick, 37, appeared in 41 games with the Los Angeles Kings and Vegas Golden Knights during the 2022–23 regular season, posting a 16–15–6 record, two shutouts, and an .882 save percentage.

The six-foot-one goaltender did not appear in a game with the Golden Knights during their successful run to the 2023 Stanley Cup Final. In the end, he lifted the Stanley Cup for the third time in his great NHL career.

Quick’s new one-year contract with the Rangers reportedly carries an $825,000 NHL base salary and, as a 35+ deal, also includes some performance-related bonuses.

The Kings originally selected Quick in the third round (No. 72 overall) of the 2005 NHL Draft. The Milford, Connecticut product made his NHL debut with the Kings in the 2007–08 season and emerged as the starter the following year.

Quick won the Stanley Cup as the starter in Los Angeles in both 2012 and 2014, winning the Conn Smythe Trophy as the Stanley Cup Playoff MVP after the Kings’ first championship run. He also captured the William M. Jennings Trophy in both 2014 and 2018.

The Kings traded Quick to the Columbus Blue Jackets as part of the Vladislav Gavrikov and Joonas Korpisalo deal ahead of the 2023 trade deadline. The following day, the Blue Jackets flipped Quick to Vegas in exchange for Michael Hutchinson and a 2025 seventh-round draft pick.

Through 753 career games over 16 NHL seasons split between the Kings and Golden Knights, Quick has posted a 375–277–84 record, 58 shutouts, and a .911 save percentage. He’ll now settle in as Igor Shesterkin’s backup with a Rangers team coming off a first-round exit at the hands of the New Jersey Devils.
