Robertson is coming off a one-year contract that he signed last July with the Blueshirts, which carried an NHL AAV of $775,000 and a minor-league salary of $85,000. It was his second NHL contract after his entry-level deal ended following the 2023-24 campaign. The Edmonton native was set to become a restricted free agent on July 1 with arbitration rights.
Robertson has been with the Rangers organization since the team took him in the second round, 49th overall, of the 2019 NHL Draft. He spent the first three seasons of his pro career solely with the team’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack. However, he finally cracked the NHL lineup a couple of months ago, making his debut with the Rangers on April 14 in a 5-3 win over the eventual Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers.
The 24-year-old ended up playing two games with the Blueshirts before the end of the regular season. He registered no points but posted a plus/minus rating of +3 while averaging a little under 18 minutes of ice time per game.
Robertson had his most productive season, offensively, with the Wolf Pack this year. Though the team failed to qualify for the Calder Cup Playoffs, the rearguard set career highs in assists (24), points (25) and plus/minus (-5). He also posted 55 penalty minutes in 60 appearances.
In 250 career AHL games, Robertson has scored 11 goals and 69 assists for 80 points, with 176 PIMs and a -30 rating. He played in 10 postseason games last year, registering one assist for Hartford.
