The New York Rangers announced Thursday the signing of forward Nathan Aspinall to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Aspinall, 19, has six goals and four assists for 10 points in six games with the Ontario Hockey League’s (OHL) Flint Firebirds, leading the team in both goals and points.

In 2024-25, the 6-foot-7 forward scored 17 goals and 30 assists for 47 points in 62 games. After the season, he appeared in five American Hockey League games with the Hartford Wolf Pack on an amateur tryout (ATO).

Taken in the fifth round of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft by the Rangers, Aspinall has played in parts of four OHL seasons and scored 42 goals, recorded 53 assists for 95 points in 162 career regular-season games. A native of Markham, Ont., he’s also appeared in 10 OHL playoff games, scoring three goals and an assist for four points.

The Rangers are 3-4-1 with seven points through their first eight games of the 2025-26 NHL regular season. They are 0-4-0 at home, including a 3-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild on Monday night.

Artemi Panarin leads the team in assists and points with five and seven, respectively. Adam Fox has a team-leading three goals. In six games, Igor Shesterkin has a 2-3-1 record with a .957 save percentage (SV%) and a 1.17 goals against average (GAA). Meanwhile, Jonathan Quick is 1-1-0 with a .911 SV% and 2.03 GAA.

Mike Sullivan is in his first season as head coach after being hired by New York last May. Before joining the Rangers, he coached the Pittsburgh Penguins for 14 seasons, compiling a record of 479-311-15-112 in 917 career games behind the bench. He won two Stanley Cup championships with the club in 2016 and 2017.
