New York Rangers unveil new third jersey for 2023-24

The New York Rangers have launched their newest third jersey, a dark blue design donning the Rangers’ shield logo.

This is the first time the Rangers have used their main crest on a uniform since The Rangers have still kept it as the main logo throughout the team’s entire existence, but have chosen to use the diagonal “Rangers” on their uniforms for most of their tenure.

The team primarily used it from 1976-78, the only time they ever had it as the main logo. The Rangers last used an iteration of the shield on its 2012 Winter Classic jersey.

The main base is a dark blue, with the sleeves and socks using the team’s traditional blue, white and red color scheme to make up a striped pattern. Inside the collar, the word “Blueshirts” is stitched on a subway tile-like design.

New York will wear the jersey 10 times in 2023-24, starting on Dec. 10 against the Los Angeles Kings. Of note, they’ll play the New York Islanders on March 17 and New Jersey Devils on April 3.

Outside of the 2021 and 2022-23 Reverse Retro jerseys, which used the Lady Liberty look in different shades of blue, this will be the first Rangers’ third jersey in the post-Reebok jersey world. They donned a dark blue look from 2010-17 with a New York wordmark, but ditched the alternate uniform altogether for 2017-18. The Rangers used the darker Lady Liberty third jersey from 1999-07 and have had various other classic designs for outdoor games appearances over the past decade.

The Rangers lead the Metropolitan Division with 33 points, tying them with Boston for first in the Atlantic and one point behind Vegas for first overall. They’re set to face Nashville on Saturday afternoon before hosting the San Jose Sharks on Sunday evening.
