The New York Sirens have made their pick.

The Sirens selected Kristyna Kaltounkova with the first overall pick in the 2025 PWHL Draft at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Ottawa, Ont., on Tuesday night.

Kaltounkova spent five seasons with Colgate University, scoring 111 goals and 122 assists for 233 points in 171 career games. Her best seasons came in 2022-23 and 2023-24, recording 57 points in both campaigns.

Internationally, she has also represented her native Czechia several times. She helped her country earn a fourth-place finish at the 2025 World Championships, and was named to the tournament’s All-Star Team.

The Sirens also had the No. 1 pick in the 2024 PWHL Draft, taking Sarah Fillier out of Princeton. During her first professional season, she scored 13 goals and 16 assists for 29 points, tied for the league lead in both assists and points.

Last month, Fillier, along with the Montreal Victoire’s Marie-Philip Poulin and Boston Fleet’s Hilary Knight, were nominated for the 2025 PWHL Forward of the Year. She was also nominated for the 2025 PWHL Rookie of the Year, as well as Jennifer Gardiner of the Victoire and Gwyneth Philips of the Ottawa Charge.

The Sirens posted a 12-4-5-13 record with 37 points in the 2024-25 regular season, missing the playoffs and finishing last in the league for the second straight season. They are the only team from the PWHL’s Original Six to never make the playoffs.

Forward Jessie Eldridge finished the year with nine goals and 15 assists for 24 points, while Alex Carpenter scored 11 goals and had nine assists, totalling 20 points. Goaltender Corinne Schroeder posted a 10-8-1-1 record with a .919 save percentage (SV%) and 2.43 goals against average (GAA).
